Maytree house is no ordinary house. During their free 4 night, 5 day stay, our guests can explore their thoughts and feelings, and feel heard with compassion and without judgement.
Our trained and friendly volunteers and staff team spend many hours with each guest over their stay, giving them the opportunity to talk through their fears, thoughts and troubles.
A week after a guest’s stay with us, each guest receives a personal record, written by a member of Maytree’s staff team, which reflects on their stay, validates their struggles and honours their achievements.
The Assessment Process
The first step is to give us a call or email
- Part of the process involves having 3 befriending calls with Maytree's volunteers.
- This gives service users the chance to engage in the befriending process, reflect on the calls and decide if the support offered Is beneficial.
- We will need to ask some questions and explore your suicide ideation at a pace that feels comfortable to yourself over the first 2 befriending calls.
- During the 3rd befriending call, we will inform you if we are able to offer an assessment with a member of staff.
- Following an assessment, a residential 5-day, 4-night stay will be offered.
Things to Remember
- Maytree has limited space with a maximum capacity of 4 guests per week and only offers a one-off stay for life. Therefore, we are unable to offer stays to everyone that contacts us.
- The calls are also designed to provide support and assist with signposting information to help you build a community of support.
- If we are not able to offer a stay at the present time, callers can contact Maytree again after 6 months to review the possibility of a stay.
